You Deserve Answers,
Not More Waiting

When you are struggling, every unanswered question feels urgent. The not-knowing is exhausting. The waiting is harder. This is where that changes.

Michelle Esparza Founder & CEO Licensed Educational Psychologist #4433, NCSP, serving San Jose

We Know What Families Are Experiencing

What if getting answers for your child felt clear, timely, and supportive?

After over a decade in educational psychology, Michelle Esparza saw the same pattern: families waiting months for evaluations, receiving reports filled with jargon, and still feeling unsure about what to do next.

You shouldn’t have to navigate this alone. Whole Mind Psychological Services was created to offer something different: clear insight, thoughtful guidance, and support that goes beyond the report.

Based in San Jose and serving families throughout Silicon Valley and California, the practice is built on three core beliefs:

Everyone deserves timely, meaningful answers.
Evaluations shared are clear and actionable
Every client deserves support beyond the final report

Family as partners

You are involved at every step, so your voice is heard and your concerns addressed

Evidence-based practice

Every assessment tool and recommendation is grounded in current research

School collaboration

Recommendations are built around the real-world demands of IEPs, 504 plans, and classrooms

You’re in the Right Place

Whole Mind proudly serves children to adults, families and schools. If the following scenarios sound familiar, let us support you:
  • Your child is struggling in school, and no one can give you clear answers
  • A teacher or pediatrician has suggested an evaluation, but you are not sure where to start
  • The school's current support plan does not seem to be helping, and your child is falling behind
  • You are preparing for an IEP meeting and want an independent, expert perspective
  • You have a stack of previous evaluations and reports, but still feel like no one has put the full picture together
  • You are a school district in need of assessment support, consultation, or long-term help

Michelle Esparza

Founder & CEO | Licensed Educational Psychologist
LEP #4433 | NCSP

More than two decades ago, Michelle began working closely with students as a tutor and educator across a wide range of ages, learning styles, and classroom settings throughout California.

Working closely with students day after day, she kept returning to the same question: why does one child easily grasp a concept while another, just as capable, continues to struggle? That curiosity led her deeper into the field of learning and cognition, which shapes everything about the way she works today.

Michelle believes that learning is never purely academic. An individual’s emotional well-being, environment, and life experiences all play a role, and truly understanding what that person needs means understanding the whole child. She specializes in evaluation and support for children, teens, and adults navigating learning differences, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and anxiety.
With a strengths-based, neuro-affirming approach, Michelle is deeply committed to helping families move from confusion to clarity. For her, the goal of an evaluation isn't simply to arrive at a diagnosis. It's to give families a deeper understanding of their child and a practical, confident path forward.

What Our Clients Say

Our daughter was a high-performing and engaged student, but was challenged with standard classroom environments and ways of learning. The assessment process was incredibly thorough, supportive, and empowering, and the recommendations translated directly into practical classroom strategies. Today, our daughter is thriving with confidence and a love of learning at college!

Rhonda M.

It was a pleasure working with Michelle. She was professional and diligent in meeting the needs of our schools. Michelle hit the road running and was instrumental in ensuring that our schools remained compliant with state and federal regulations. Her services are highly recommended, and I hope I get the chance to work with her in the future.
