Licensed Educational Psychologist in San Jose
You Deserve Answers, Not More Waiting
When you are struggling, every unanswered question feels urgent. The not-knowing is exhausting. The waiting is harder. This is where that changes.

We Know What Families Are Experiencing

What if getting answers for your child felt clear, timely, and supportive?
After over a decade in educational psychology, Michelle Esparza saw the same pattern: families waiting months for evaluations, receiving reports filled with jargon, and still feeling unsure about what to do next.
You shouldn’t have to navigate this alone. Whole Mind Psychological Services was created to offer something different: clear insight, thoughtful guidance, and support that goes beyond the report.
Based in San Jose and serving families throughout Silicon Valley and California, the practice is built on three core beliefs:
What Matters to You Matters to Us
Good evaluations and meaningful support start with the right values. Here is what shapes every interaction, every report, and every recommendation at Whole Mind:
Clarity over complexity
Reports are written so you can read and use them, not file them away
Strength-based perspective
Every evaluation starts by looking at what your child can do, not just where they struggle
Family as partners
You are involved at every step, so your voice is heard and your concerns addressed
Evidence-based practice
Every assessment tool and recommendation is grounded in current research
School collaboration
Recommendations are built around the real-world demands of IEPs, 504 plans, and classrooms
You’re in the Right Place

- Your child is struggling in school, and no one can give you clear answers
- A teacher or pediatrician has suggested an evaluation, but you are not sure where to start
- The school's current support plan does not seem to be helping, and your child is falling behind
- You are preparing for an IEP meeting and want an independent, expert perspective
- You have a stack of previous evaluations and reports, but still feel like no one has put the full picture together
- You are a school district in need of assessment support, consultation, or long-term help

Michelle Esparza
LEP #4433 | NCSP
More than two decades ago, Michelle began working closely with students as a tutor and educator across a wide range of ages, learning styles, and classroom settings throughout California.
Working closely with students day after day, she kept returning to the same question: why does one child easily grasp a concept while another, just as capable, continues to struggle? That curiosity led her deeper into the field of learning and cognition, which shapes everything about the way she works today.
